The Student Council of Political Sciences is glad to invite you to be part of the project: “Roundtables from Internationals to Germans: What we can tell you differently about politics”. Come, reconnect and share your views!

Political Science is mostly based on American and European schools, that’s why the instruments for further research on any political area can be found here. This is the advantage every foreign student has when he/she decides to study politics in Germany. However a lot of improvements on political research have been achieved in other parts of the world. If Political Science is to be relevant in a global context, an integration of both elements is necessary.

This project represents a small step to this goal, which has been already taken into account when we see the many “Forschungszentren” that have been created at many universities in Germany. The presence of International or German students, who have spent a long time in other countries, is a rich source of information, which can be eye-opening and an incentive for other students to lead their careers in new directions. On the one hand, what is offered here is the opportunity to discuss with people who can give testimony as members of the political reality of their respective countries. On the other hand, it can be used by International students as an incentive to reconnect with their roots and to analyze, as Political Scientists, their own countries.

The project is composed of four roundtables (discussion sessions). Each session integrates two parts: The first is a presentation of the country under the topics described below, which the speaker (International students or German students with a close relation with the country to be presented) have to prepare for the session. The second part is a discussion based on the presentations, which the audience can take part in.

The topics for each roundtable are as follows.
